One of the ways we hope to make AstroCoffee more interesting is to be more active in posting papers of interest to encourage people to come.  One way of doing that is making it easier to see what papers have been posted on the AstroCoffee section of the Vanderbilt wiki.  Although everyone can visit that page on their own to see what papers are there, it would be helpful to find ways to get notified when papers are placed on the wiki.  Here are two ways to do that.

1) Wiki Notification

The simplest way to get notifications would be to adjust your overall wiki notifications.  To do that, go to the wiki and on the upper right of the page under your displayed email address, click on "account".  Then click on the "Home" tab.  On the bottom left of the page, under Preferences, there is a drop-down list that specifies how often you want to receive email notifications about your workspaces.  Select the frequency you want and click "submit".

The one potential problem with this method is that you will receive change notifications for all pages of all wikis that you are a member of.  In general this will not be a big problem because we do not have updates to the wiki all the time, but as more people start adding to the solution center and software repositories the volume of emails could potentially get too high.

which leads me to suggest...

2) RSS notifications

Most of you know what RSS is.  For those who don't, it is a system used often by blogs or news sites that send you an email or a notice whenever a page that you have subscribed to is updated.  If you already use an RSS system like Google Reader, Live Bookmarks, Live Yahoo, or Bloglines, this would fit quite well.  With RSS, you can subscribe just to the AstroCoffee page of the wiki, and not bother with the other pages.  For more detail, see here.  For reference, vanderbiltastro is a public wiki.
